Gusai Media vs Hop On Stages

Gusai Media and Hop On Stages are built on the same idea: you send footage you already have, and a remote editor turns it into a speaker reel. Gusai Media does not film; Hop On Stages only films on a custom quote, and most of its reels need none. That makes this one of the closest comparisons on the site, and the differences come down to speed, how you find out the price, team size and what happens after delivery.

What actually matters

The same model, so look at the work

When two providers do the same thing the same way, the deciding factor is the reels. Watch at least three from each, all the way through, and ask yourself: in the first 15 seconds, do I know what this speaker talks about? Do I see a real audience reacting? Would I want to book this person? Our speaker reel examples guide explains what to look for, and our own reels are on the work page.

Speed

Gusai Media says 1 to 2 weeks from receiving footage, with rush available. Our turnaround is 2 to 3 weeks. If you need a reel in days, Gusai Media is the better pick.

How you get a price

Gusai Media uses a calculator on its site to build a quote; the homepage does not list a price. That is useful if your project is unusual (very short, or lots of extra cuts). Hop On Stages charges one flat $3,000, 50% to begin, 50% on completion, for a full story reel, regardless of length or how much footage you send.

Solo editor vs a studio

A solo editor gives you a direct line to the person cutting your reel, which many speakers love. The trade-off is capacity: if that one person is booked or unavailable, your project waits. Ask any solo editor how soon they can start and what happens if they are out sick mid-project.

After the reel

This is where we differ most. Gusai Media edits reels. Hop On Stages also runs a separate booking outreach program that pitches you to event organizers, associations and bureaus by cold email, with your reel leading each pitch. Keith Ferrazzi's campaigns produced, in his words, "somewhere close to 81 qualified leads". The reel and the outreach are separate engagements, so you can buy one without the other.

What Gusai Media is

Gusai Media is a solo, remote video editor who works with speakers worldwide and states plainly, "I'm an editor only": you send existing footage, and the editor turns it into a reel. Turnaround is 1 to 2 weeks from receiving footage, with rush available, and pricing is built with a calculator on the site. Speakers named on its site include Jasna Burza, Gary C. Laney and Kendra Q. Dodd. For a speaker who wants a quick, edit-only reel from one person, it is a sensible option.
