How to choose a speaker reel company

There are dozens of studios, freelancers and videographers who make speaker reels, and they are not interchangeable. Some only film, some only edit, some do both. Prices range from $50 gigs to $20,000 add-ons, and turnaround from 5 business days to about 2 months. This guide gives you the questions that sort them, plus the published facts to compare. We make speaker reels ourselves, so we have included where we fit and where we do not.

Disclosure: we make one of the options on this page, so this is not an independent review. Competitor facts come from their own websites and were checked on October 21, 2026. We say where others are the better fit. Spotted something wrong? Email us and we will fix it.

Start with one question: do you need filming?

This splits the market in half, and it changes the price more than anything else.

  • You have footage of real talks. You need an editor who understands speaker marketing. Specialists that edit from your footage include Speaker Sizzle Reel and Gusai Media (edit only) and Hop On Stages (edit-first, with filming on custom quote); Outspeak and Speaker's Cut edit your footage and can also film.
  • You have nothing usable. You need filming, either from a studio that bundles filming and editing (Bondars Video, Journey Light Visuals, Motivational Media's "$6,000 all in", Speakers Reels in Toronto, Cicospace, SPKR Studio) or a local videographer plus a separate editor.

If you are not sure your footage is good enough, see making a reel without professional footage. Most studios that edit from your footage, including us, will look at what you have and tell you.

Nine questions to ask any speaker reel company

  1. 01

Can I see reels for speakers like me?

Look at three or more complete reels, ideally in your topic and fee range. Watch for real audiences, a clear idea and a fast opening. See our examples.

  2. 02

Do you film, edit, or both?

And if both, is the price different when you bring your own footage? Filming adds cost you may not need.

  3. 03

What is the price for the length I want?

Some studios price by length. Speaker Sizzle Reel, for example, is $1,500 for 60 to 90 seconds and $2,950 for 2 to 3 minutes.

  4. 04

    Who decides the story?

Do they review all your footage and propose a structure, or edit to your brief? This is most of what you pay a specialist for.

  5. 05

How much footage will you review?

Some tiers cap it (Speaker Sizzle Reel's Essential reviews up to 60 minutes). If you have years of recordings, ask.

  6. 06

    What is the turnaround?

Published ranges run from 5 business days to about 2 months. Ask when the clock starts: booking, deposit or footage received.

  7. 07

    How many revisions are included?

Two or three rounds is common. Ask what counts as a revision and what extra rounds cost.

  8. 08

    What do I receive?

Main reel, social cuts, vertical version, file formats. Confirm you own the final files and can post them anywhere.

  9. 09

    What are the payment terms?

Deposit, balance, and when the balance is due. Paying the balance on approval protects you.

Red flags

  • No complete reels to watch. A montage of logos is not a portfolio.
  • Logo walls without context. If a studio shows TEDx, CNN or Google logos, check what they mean. Speaker Sizzle Reel, to its credit, labels its logo wall as not endorsements.
  • Stock or generated crowds in their samples. If their reels use footage that is not from the speaker's real events, yours may too. Planners notice.
  • Vague deliverables. "A sizzle reel" can mean 60 seconds or 4 minutes. Get the length in writing.
  • Booking guarantees. Nobody can honestly guarantee bookings from a reel.
  • Full payment upfront for custom work. A deposit is normal; 100% before you see a cut is a risk.

Where Hop On Stages fits, honestly

We are an edit-first, remote studio. You send footage by link; we build a 2 to 5 minute story reel with sound design, color, motion graphics and a vertical social cut, for $3,000 flat, 50% to begin, 50% on completion, with two rounds of revisions. If you need new footage, we can film it or book a local crew (and a venue) on a custom quote. We have made reels for 50+ speakers, including Keith Ferrazzi, Kian Gohar and Sam Silverstein, and Doug Noll said: "They're inexpensive, they're fast, they're creative, and they produce a really high-quality product."

We are not the best choice if you want filming at a published, all-in price (ours is custom-quoted; Motivational Media and Bondars Video publish theirs), you need delivery in under a week (Speaker Sizzle Reel's 5 business day tier or rush is faster), or you only want a 60 to 90 second cut on the smallest possible budget. Booking outreach is a separate service, quoted separately. For a ranked comparison of the main studios, see best speaker reel companies.

Which type of company fits you?

A specialist that edits your footage if

  • You already have recordings of real talks with decent audio
  • You want someone to decide the story, not just cut clips
  • You want a predictable flat price and no travel

A filming studio if

  • You have no usable footage
  • You have an upcoming event the studio can attend
  • You want several videos from one planned shoot

A freelancer if

  • Your budget is under about $600
  • You can write a precise brief and direct the edit yourself
  • You mainly need social clips rather than a booking reel

Questions people ask

How do I choose a speaker reel company?

Decide whether you need filming, then compare complete past reels, the price for the length you want, turnaround, revisions, what files you receive and payment terms. Ask who decides the story, because that is what you pay a specialist for.

Should I hire a videographer or a speaker reel company?

A videographer films; a speaker reel company decides what the reel says and edits it. If you need new footage, you may need both: a local videographer to film and a specialist to edit. See Hop On Stages vs a local videographer.

What questions should I ask a speaker reel company?

Can I see reels for speakers like me? Do you film or edit? What is the price for my length? Who decides the story? How much footage do you review? What is the turnaround? How many revisions? What do I receive? What are the payment terms?

Who is the best speaker reel company?
