SpeakerMatch vs SpeakerHUB

SpeakerMatch and SpeakerHUB are both low-cost, self-serve ways to find speaking opportunities, and neither takes a commission. SpeakerMatch is a membership for browsing and applying to open calls. SpeakerHUB is a speaker profile plus a large opportunities database with outreach features. Here is how they compare on what each publishes.

What actually separates them

Open calls vs a database

SpeakerMatch is focused: it lists open calls, events that are publicly asking for speakers, and you apply. That is efficient, because every listing is an event that wants someone. The trade-off is competition, since every member sees the same calls, and fee level: an older Mequoda report estimated about 70% of SpeakerMatch listings were low or no fee. That figure is dated, so treat it as something to check against current listings.

SpeakerHUB is broader. It gives you a public profile and a large database of conferences and opportunities, many of which are not open calls, plus tools for reaching out. It asks more of you (you decide who to pitch and how), but it covers more ground.

Price and risk

Both are cheap. SpeakerMatch's Silver tier is $30 per 4 weeks ($325/yr), and its 8-week money-back guarantee makes it a low-risk test. SpeakerHUB has a free tier, $19/mo and $47/mo plans, and one-time lifetime plans at $249, $499 and $999, which can work out cheapest over several years if you commit.

Bonus value

SpeakerMatch's membership has included an eSpeakers Basic account, which adds a marketplace profile. If you were going to set one up anyway, that is useful.

Done-for-you path

SpeakerHUB has a separate done-for-you agency (price not shown, 3-month commitment). SpeakerMatch does not publish one. If you expect to hand off outreach eventually, that is a point for SpeakerHUB.

Using both

Since one covers open calls and the other covers a broader database and profile, they overlap less than you might expect. At these prices, some speakers run both for a few months and keep whichever produces conversations.

Which one should you choose?

Choose SpeakerMatch if

  • You want a ready list of events actively looking for speakers
  • You want a money-back guarantee while you test it
  • You are building experience and low-fee rooms are fine
  • You want an eSpeakers Basic profile bundled in

Choose SpeakerHUB if

  • You want a free tier or a one-time lifetime plan
  • You want a public profile planners can find
  • You want to pitch events that are not posting open calls
  • You may want to hand off outreach to their agency later

The gap neither one fills

Both platforms are self-serve. You read listings, choose targets, write pitches and follow up. That works if you have the hours. Many speakers do not, and many of the best-paid rooms (corporate meetings, association annual conferences) never appear in an open call or a public database.

Hop On Stages runs done-for-you cold email outreach for speakers. We build a target list for your topic and fee, find the person who selects speakers at each organization, write a personal pitch that leads with your reel, send it and follow up, then pass interested replies to you. It is quoted separately and takes no commission. Results include Keith Ferrazzi's campaigns, which produced, in his words, "somewhere close to 81 qualified leads", and a paid New York City invitation for Steve Taubman.

We also edit speaker reels for $3,000 flat, because whatever channel you use, the planner decides by watching your video.

To be fair about our side: outreach costs far more than a $30 membership, and we do not guarantee bookings. If budget is tight, start with SpeakerMatch or SpeakerHUB. See Hop On Stages vs SpeakerMatch and Hop On Stages vs SpeakerHUB.
